How Do You Cut & Drill Through Concrete Blocks?
When working with CMU (concrete masonry units) blocks, you must cut them down or drill a hole through them. With the use of some specialty blades and drill bits, you can drill and cut through CMU blocks without much trouble. When you cut or drill the block, however, it produces a lot of fine gray dust. Use safety goggles and a dust mask when cutting the CMU block. Put on safety goggles and gloves to protect you from the harmful dust produced when cutting CMU. Drill small holes in the CMU with a hammer drill with a masonry drill bit. Move the bit in and out of the hole as you drill to clean the hole of concrete debris and make for quicker drilling. Drill larger holes in the CMU block with a dry cut coring bit. Install the starter masonry bit into the drill motor, and tighten it in place. Slide the appropriate size coring bit over the starter drill bit, and tighten it in place. Start drilling the hole with a light amount of pressure. The dry cut core cutting bits are diamond coated and w
