How Do You Cut Slate Tile Out Of A Floor?

0

The nature of homes is that sometimes things in your home will break down, or suffer accidental damage that requires repair. While a fairly dusty and noisy task, removing slate tile is sometimes a necessity, whether as a result of an earthquake or simply from someone dropping something heavy on the floor. Knowing that you can remove that slate tile quickly and painlessly means one less thing that you have to worry about in the overall maintenance of your home. Open all doors and windows to the area where you will be doing the work. Cutting out slate tile is a dusty process, and you will need as much ventilation as possible. Put on your protective gear. Using your 4″ grinder, cut out the grout joints around the tile in question, being careful not to cut too deep into the substrate below the actual tile. Use your hammer and chisel to chip a hole in the center of the piece you are removing. Do not start at the outside edge of the tile, or you run the risk of accidentally chipping an edge
