How Do You Deal With Foggy Windows?
Double pane glass makes for a good, energy efficient window, but over time, seals can break and leave you in a fog-filled world. Here are some tips you should know. Step 1 Fog in windows can be found in double pane windows (also triple pane) and is caused when the rubber seal surrounding the two layers of glass loosens and moisture seeps through and becomes trapped between the layers. Just a pinhole failure can create foggy windows. Step 2 If you live on the west coast, you have a better chance of experiencing seal failure if your windows were manufactured east of the mountains. This is simply because of transportation. Windows that are transported over the mountains are under pressure. Despite the best of efforts, a seal can break. Step 3 For new windows, you will often be able to detect seal failure within 3-4 months after installation. Step 4 Despite continuing efforts by companies to solve this problem, there is no good cure for foggy glass other than to replace the glass. Step 5 B
