How Do You Deep Fry Breaded Shrimp?
Whether as part of a seafood platter or as an appetizer with dipping sauces, fried breaded shrimp is a favorite of many. There are many variations of breaded shrimp; chefs and home cooks use a variety of seasonings and breading substances. The basic process, however, is the same. Gather the ingredients. The shrimp should be peeled and de-veined, but leave the tails attached. The breading station will include flour, beaten eggs and breading material. Use breadcrumbs, either seasoned or unseasoned, or pre-packaged breading mix. Heat the oil in the deep fryer to 375 degrees F. While the oil is heating, consider marinating the shrimp in lemon juice, lime juice or hot sauce. This adds flavor to the shrimp. Bread the shrimp. Dredge the shrimp first in flour; then dip into the beaten egg mixture. Shake the extra egg dip off the shrimp, and then coat the shrimp in the breading material.
