How Do You Defrost (Or Thaw) Meat Without Using A Microwave?

0

Using a microwave to defrost or thaw meat isn’t always a good idea. Zapping meat in a microwave can result in cooking the meat on the inside while still leaving it partially frozen on the outside. Using a microwave will leave any meat with a freezer aftertaste plus giving it a gritty side. If you are going to freeze meat or poultry it’s best to divide it into small packages. Rather than clumping 6 pork chops or lamb chops (or chicken legs) into one bag separate them into small packages of 2 each. Same for steaks. The ideal for defrosting meat/poultry is to leave it in your refrigerator overnight. You can also defrost meat in a cold water bath. Fill a bowl with cold water and place the frozen package of meat in it. Make sure to cover the whole thing with water and it should take about 2 hours for the meat to defrost this way. Change the water every half hour or so. Make sure never to use warm water since the outside of the meat gets too warm and the inside won’t defrost (or thaw) leavin
