How Do You Design Roller Skating Rinks?
Roller skating and rollerblading remain popular recreational activities. If planning to open a roller skating rink, scout out the area to determine if it can support a rink. Look for nearby neighborhoods and schools, as kids will be the most frequent customers. Perhaps build close to a bowling alley, another draw for kids. Make sure your rink will be highly visible and that traffic can easily find it. Plan for between 13,000 and 14,500 square feet for the skating floor. Choose a floor surface, such as concrete or wood. Choose a basic shape, either rectangular or oval, for the floor. Plan on a 5 foot wall (or taller) around the floor with an opening into the non-skating areas of the rink. Plan the entrance to funnel guests to the skate rental station. From there, design an open sitting area where people can put on their skates.
