If you use an M14, it pays to know how to disassemble and reassemble it so that you can maintain it properly. Remove the magazine from the M14 service rifle before disassembling it. Next, activate the safety, lock the bolt so it’s all the way back, then release the safety and fire the weapon, making sure you point it away from people. Charge the handle of the M14, and turn the safety back on. Lay the M14 on its back, then grasp the trigger guard and pull up. It should pop open. Slide the trigger guard as well as the firing mechanism back out of the stock of the M14 rifle as you disassemble it. You will find that the stock will also come free of the rifle as you do so.
