How Do You Discern A Forged ID?
• Check the general appearance, official and legitimate IDs have a clear layout with complex and detailed background illustrations that can not be copied, scanned or photographed. Official IDs will also carry the branding of the issuing authority / country and a uniform colour scheme is usually being used. Any ID that has a very simple layout is more likely to be forged. • Know that any ID that may be used for identification or proof of age will carry a hologram which is embedded into the PVC coating of the card. Many forged IDs today have holograms too, those of official authorities, however, are clearly distinguishable as they contain a reference to the issuing authority (as for example the EU stars / the countries’ coat of arms / flag / name / etc.). Fake IDs usually contain very generic holograms such as globes or ‘Security’ lettering. Look at the sides of the card, if they were made using laminated paper, you will be able to tell. Real IDs are always made from endurable plastic. •
