With these few easy steps you will learn how to do a french tip manicure at home. You don't even need an assistant! First I like to make sure I have clean nails to start with. So make sure you have stripped off any old polish. Then you are going to use the big toe nail clippers to trim all of your fingernails evenly. I find that by using the big nail clippers I can get the desired square tip on my nails. After all of your nails are pretty much the same length, you are going to smooth out the edges with your nail file. Do not over file! You just want to take your time and gently smooth off any roughness left behind by the clippers. Any excessive filing is going to alter the shape of your nail or take off the original cut length.
