The simple tap time step is a combination shuffle done to the count of “8 and,” which means it is a slow shuffle (and becomes a treble once you step down on it) as opposed to a quick shuffle where the shuffle is done to the count of “and a.” Shuffle on your right foot (do not lower your foot) followed by a hop on the left. Do this to the count of “8 and 1.” Step down right and shuffle step left. This is done to the count of “and 2 and 3.” Step down right and shuffle left (“and 4 and”). Hop on our right and step down on your left (“5 and”). Shuffle right and step right, step left (“6 and 7 and”). Combine the steps to the simple tap time step: shuffle hop step shuffle step step, shuffle hop step shuffle step step.
