First, drivers need to understand that a transmission on any vehicle is the device that transmits the power of the engine to drive the wheels. On automatic vehicles there are only two pedals, the gas pedal and the brake pedal, but on most vehicles with a manual transmission, there is an extra pedal located to the left of the brake pedal called the clutch pedal.
