Wood paneling gives a great, rustic look to any room in your home. Wood paneling is easy to install, but it is flimsy. If you pick up a long sheet or try to pry the paneling too hard, you may crack it. As long as you never completely broke the panel, there is no need to throw the panel away. A crack in wood paneling can be covered with wood putty. Take a scrap piece of wood paneling to your local hardware store. Compare the scrap piece of wood paneling to the variety of wood putty colors. The lid of the wood putty container has what the dried putty color is. Purchase the putty with the closest color. Fill the crack in the wood paneling with the putty. Rub the putty into the crack with the putty knife. Rub it smooth with the putty knife so that it is flush with the panel. Allow the putty to dry for a day. Lightly sand the dried putty until it is smooth and blends in with the surrounding wood panel.
