You can’t really get a feel for it by reading a book or an article. Go to an Expo or clinic in your area and just watch. You will know right away if it’s something you’re interested in trying. Ask your horsey friends for a recommendation. There are many natural horsemanship trainers around, and word-of-mouth is often the best way to find one. If your horsey friends can’t offer advice, check out the websites of some of the big-name NH trainers (for example John Lyons, Pat Parelli, etc.)… often on their websites they will list their certified trainers in your area. Once you track down a natural horsemanship trainer in your area, attend a clinic. They will usually let you audit (without a horse) for a small fee.
