How Do You Finish A Ceiling With Wood?
Using tongue and groove wood strips to finish a ceiling adds a touch of elegance and class to even the most boring rooms. You can turn any home into a country cottage with the feel of a deep woods cabin by installing a solid wood product. Tongue and groove wood strips are available in a variety of species, including walnut, hickory, ash, red oak and black cherry. These wood species are available in finished and unfinished planks. Find all the studs (joists) in the ceiling with an electronic stud finder. Mark the locations on the wall so they will be visible during the installation. Each wood plank will be fastened directly to the studs. Hold the first plank against the ceiling, beginning where the wall and the ceiling meet, with the groove side towards the corner. Using a finish nailer, fasten the wood plank to the ceiling by shooting nails directly into the ceiling studs. Shoot along the groove side of the plank first. Then shoot nails along the groove side of the plank in the corner
