Get a universal link (also known as a golden link). It has a special, removable plate on one side with holes shaped a little like tipped over figure eights with slightly fatter ends. Take the two chain ends (holes on either end, not posts) and slip them over the two posts on the golden link. Next take the special plate and put the fat holes over the posts. Finally, give a little pull on either end of the chain and the posts will firmly click into the smaller holes. It’s a lot easier to see it than describe it. Golden links cost about 4 bucks. Just get a new one. A good quality single speed chain costs about 10 bucks, and a good multispeed chain goes from about $15 to $50. If it actually broke, it must be rusted and full of junk.
