Buried deep within the files of each computer with a Windows operating system is the Windows registry. Sometimes these files will have problems or errors that compel a user to these files to remedy an issue with, for example the computers CD Drive. If a person is careful, he can use a few simple steps to a fix a CD drive entry in the Windows registry. Step 1 Open the registry editor of the Windows operating system. To do this, click on "Start" in the main operating system menu and choose "Run" from that menu. The run dialogue box should appear, when it does type "regedit" into the text box and click "OK."
