How Do You Fix A Door That Sticks?

BANG! And that is when the door would have shut if it would not have settled this winter. Summer is a great time to do a little touch up on swollen doors and windows so that you don’t have to do it in below zero temperatures. Step 1 Carbon paper is your friend. It can see into the dark and around corners when you can not. Place a sheet of carbon paper around the area in question and open and close the door a few times. This will allow for transfer and show you where the real problem is. Step 2 Sand down any area that has carbon transfer on it. Sand until you do not see any more carbon and then repeat the first step to see if there is enough clearance for the door or if it needs a little more space. By removing small amounts at a time it will make for a cleaner fit. Step 3 Clean and seal the area that was sanded with finish or paint that matches the original covering. This will stop moisture from making it’s way back in and causing the same problem over year after year.
