How Do You Fix A Ford Windstars Errant “Door Ajar” Alarm?
Ford Windstars (at least the late 1990’s models) are notorious for suffering from incessant and sporadic “door ajar” alarms–something that can be very annoying while driving. In many cases, this problem can be solved with the following simple procedure. • Identify the sliding door electrical contacts (a bank of four contacts found on the lower front edge of the sliding door and mating contacts on the rear edge of the front door pillar). • Using a soft, pliable pencil eraser, thoroughly rub the four contacts on the rear edge of the front sliding door pillar to remove any oxidation, grease, grime, or other contaminants. Clean the tips of the mating spring-loaded contacts on the front edge of the sliding door in a similar manner.
