How Do You Fix A Frayed Rug?
Common home rugs can become frayed after months and years of usage. Fraying on rugs happens when the edges are walked on or endure various stages of abuse and stress from normal or abnormal usage. Here’s how to fix a frayed rug. Step 1 Cut the frayed edge fairly evenly along the edge where the wear has occurred. With scissors, remove the excess fray along your rug. Step 2 Sew over the edge of the rug that’s frayed, starting about one half of an inch below where the damaged area begins. Wrap the thread tightly around the frayed area until it’s completely covered and you can no longer see the frayed rug damage. Step 3 Sew the area about one quarter of an inch into the rug away from the fray. You want to make sure none of the loose frayed threads catch on the needle and increase the damage. Step 4 Secure the end of your needling around the end of your new sewing job tightly, so it won’t shake loose.
