Knowing how to fix a pull chain light fixture will help you solve this problem and prevent you from having to buy an all-new fixture. Step 1 Turn off the power to the pull chain fixture. Find the breaker in the electrical panel and turn it off. If the light bulb in the fixture is lit, it will be easier to find, but if it’s not lit, it may prove more difficult. If the bulb is not lit, remove the bulb from the fixture and insert the tip of the touch-type voltage tester into the socket. When the right breaker is off, the tester will stay quiet.
