How Do You Fix A Rocking Chair Squeak?
Is your favorite rocking chair comfortable, but too noisy to enjoy using? Rocking chairs are symbols of relaxation, but they can become more annoying than restful when they creak with each back-and-forth motion. In most cases, the squeaks originate from the metal joints that hold the springs to the frame. In other cases, the wood pieces rubbing against one another may create a sound. In either case, the noise can be removed with a few household items. Step 1 Relocate the rocker to a different section of the floor, in case the squeak is issuing from the floor rather than the rocker. Step 2 Place a rug underneath the rocker and a cushion on the rocker. Check to see if the noise persists. Step 3 Examine the metal connections on the rocker. Tighten any loose screws or bolts with a screwdriver. If the wood has split anywhere and parts are rubbing against one another, squeeze a small amount of wood glue into the break.
