How Do You Fix Ceiling Drywall Water Damage?
Unsightly stains on your ceiling can be embarrassing, but, rest assured, there is an easy fix for this problem. Most ceiling water stains are a result of a leaking roof, so once that problem is fixed, you can go on to address the cosmetic issues that resulted from the water leak. Use a diluted solution of chlorine bleach and water to lightly spray the entire ceiling surface. Be sure to wipe the entire ceiling surface clean and dry. Use painter’s masking tape to mask the edge of the wall where it meets the ceiling. Use 2-inch-wide tape or two rows of 1-inch-wide tape. Use a high-quality interior/exterior grade of paint primer to seal the surface of the ceiling. Make sure to use a primer that is intended for stain blocking.
