Test your remote. Most old and new satellite remotes are universal remotes, meaning they can control multiple devices. Push the “SAT” button on your satellite remote to see if it works. If a button other than the “SAT” button was pushed, your remote control wouldn’t operate the satellite receiver, making you think the old satellite receiver was not functioning. If this wasn’t the problem, continue. Find the Reset button on your old satellite receiver. This may be on the back of the satellite receiver, or it might be in a co
