How Do You Fix Power Seats In A Ford Taurus?
Drivers of the 1990 to 1992 Taurus may find that their power seats unexpectedly move while accelerating, braking or cornering. Ford has officially acknowledged the problem and has declared seat track malfunction to be the root. Luckily, there’s a quick fix for this irritating problem that is specific to these year models and no others. Fix Side-to-Side Movement Step 1 Verify that the seat track-to-floor bolts are torqued properly. Check the front retaining screws for torquing of 18 to 24 Nm (13 to 18 foot pounds), the rear outboard retaining nut for 18 to 24 Nm (13 to 18 foot pounds) and the rear inboard retaining nut for 60 to 90 Nm (44 to 66 foot pounds). If the torquing isn’t too these specifications, fix them with a torque wrench and then test the vehicle for unwanted movement. Proceed to Step 2 if the movement continues.
