How Do You Fix Scratched Chrome Rims?

0

Rims go on the outside of tires to give the vehicle extra flair, and the tires some added protection from the elements. Rims can come in a variety of metals, including chrome and aluminum. If they appear tarnished, understand that the rims are aluminum with a chrome finish and must be cleaned and repaired. Heavy scratches or dings in chrome rims can be fixed relatively easily. Step 1 Clean the rims with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth and rub all stains and debris off of the rims. Step 2 Touch up small scratches with the chrome paint and the small paintbrush. Step 3 Apply epoxy glue according to the directions on the label to fill the deep scratches and dings in your rims. Step 4 Smooth out the glue with a buffing cloth or other smoothing instrument that will not scratch the chrome. Step 5 Paint over the epoxy glue with the chrome paint, and set the rim out on a mat to dry.
