Using Windows XP, you may have seen a dreaded message, “Your virtual memory is low” and you probably don’t even know what that means let alone how to fix it. To simply explain it, virtual memory is a complicated technique your computer uses to allow large applications to run smoothly and use your RAM more efficienty. Step 1 Navigate to the Control Panel. Step 2 Click Performance & Maintenance. Step 3 Click System and then click on the Advance tab. Step 4 Under Performance, click Setting and then click on the Advance tab. Step 5 On the Advanced tab, under Virtual Memory, click Change. Step 6 Click the drive you want to change. You need to pick the drive that has the paging file size you need to change. Paging File Size is the amount of memory reserved for Virtual Memory. More times than not the drive your looking for will be the C: Drive. Step 7 Under Paging File Size, click on the Custom Size check box. Step 8 Enter the amount of initial and maximum Virtual Memory you’d like to reserve
