How Do You Germinate Crimson King Maple Seeds?
The crimson king is a maple cultivar with dark purple leaves. This is a deciduous tree, growing to 60 feet in height and usually grown as a shade tree. Unfortunately, it emits a chemical to discourage any plant growth under its canopy, so nothing will grow beneath it. Maple trees have fruit, called samara, with papery wings, that mature in early summer. The crimson king seeds are difficult to germinate and require a long period of cold. There is no need to remove the seeds from the fruit prior to germination or planting. Mix together equal parts of the sand, coco peat and perlite; pour the mixture into the seeding flat or planting pot. Pack the soil down firmly with your hands. Plant the entire crimson king fruit 1 inch deep into the planting mix and cover lightly with soil.
