The check engine light code can be captured and decoded by a special tool, called an on-board diagnostic code checking computer. This device plugs into the fuse panel in your Civic and obtains the code. Remove the fuse panel cover in your civic. Depending on the year of your Civic, you may need to turn a knob on the panel cover and pull down on the cover or push two release tabs together and pull down on the fuse panel cover.
