Mold thrives in areas that moisture and darkness prevail–and it leaves no surface untouched. Aside from destroying the aesthetics of your possessions, mold has a distinctive odor and can potentially be harmful to respiratory health. Quick action, in one of two ways, is the best recourse. Take the tablecloth outside to brush the mold away with a soft- to medium-bristle brush. This is best done outside or over a trash can so that mold spores cannot get loose in your home. Lay the tablecloth flat with the mold side facing up, in a place where it can get the most sunlight. Place a blanket underneath to help keep it from getting dirty.
