How do you get rid of cloudy water in a swimming pool.

Your pool will get cloudy after you kill the algae because this is the dead algae cells in the water. Filtration is needed to get rid of this. That said, there are a number of things that will keep your pool cloudy that has nothing to do with algae. If you don’t maintain enough free chlorine in the pool then it will be cloudy. Try to maintain a level of free chlorine about 2.5 to 3.0ppm. This will eliminate any future algae outbreaks as well. If your combined chlorine levels rise then this can create cloudy water as well and shocking the pool is needed. If your combined chlorine gets to half of your total chlorine level then the water will stink and be very cloudy. You need to get the level of chlorine up to 7x that of the combined chlorine to kill this off. If your pH and total alkalinity levels are off then this will create cloudy water as well. Lower pH levels with high TA will cause a milk pool, as will the inverse of the readings. Proper balance is needed to maintain a crystal poo
