Daddy long legs, also known as harvestmen, are not harmful to humans. They are also not technically spiders. Daddy long legs are in the same class as spiders (Arachnida) but are a different order (Phalangida). Daddy long legs do not have two segmented body parts, which is required to be considered a true spider. Instead, they are arthopods. Just because these arthropods are harmless doesn’t mean they aren’t invaders or nuisances. Vacuum up any daddy long legs you can find. Make sure to check in tight spaces, including behind the stove, under the kitchen sink and in between the wall and the couch. Suck up any webs or egg sacs you come across.
