How Do You Get The Motor On A Craftsman Garage Door Opener To Stop When Stressed?

With a little practice anyone can set the pressure on a garage door opener. Put Step ladder under garage door motor. Climb up to motor and remove cover (some models you do not need to do this). You are looking for 2 adjustment knobs. One will control downward pressure and the other will control upwards pressure. If you turn knob clockwise it will increase pressure, turning counterclockwise will decrease pressure. Set the pressure so that the door goes down with out stopping itself but that you are able to stop with your hand. If it stop by itself you have too little pressure. If it is real hard to stop with your hand then decrease pressure (counterclockwise). With a little practice you will get the hang of it. Don’t forget to do the upwards pressure the same way.
