Shih Tzus are known for their long, luxurious coats. While their flowing fur may be beautiful and distinctive, it’s also a chore to keep clean and groomed. Shih Tzus are prone to tangles, especially beneath their legs and tails and around their eyes. They require frequent grooming to avoid matted and broken hair. To keep your Shih Tzu puppy looking its best, brush it once or twice a week at least; some owners groom their pups daily. Spritz your Shih Tzu puppy’s coat with tangle-removing spray. Stop when the coat is damp. Place the puppy on its back. Brush through the coat on the puppy’s chest and belly with the bristle brush. Spray with tangle remover as necessary. If the coat is thick, use the comb to part the hair, then comb from root to tip. Pay special attention to the area under each leg and around the puppy’s tail. Turn the puppy on its side.
