Rose of Sharon is a large shrub that is sometimes grown as a tree. It can grow up to 15 feet tall and blooms in midsummer. The flowers are 3 to 5 inches wide and can be pink, red, purple, white or a combination of the four. Rose of Sharon requires little maintenance and only occasional watering after the first month of growth. Prepare the location to plant rose of Sharon by incorporating humus directly into the soil.
