How Do You Grow Lemon Grass From Cuttings?

0

Lemon grass is used in Southeast Asian cooking to add zest to dishes. This citrus flavored grass is often available at specialty groceries and Asian markets with part of the root rhizome still attached. The easiest and most economical way is to grow lemon grass from cuttings taken from the produce department. Lemon grass is one of the easier herbs to root, and it can be grown successfully indoors and out. It does well in containers, and it will continue to produce in a warm, sunny area year around. Trim or peel the exterior leaves from the lemon grass stalk, leaving behind the central stalk and the white rhizome on the end. Place the end of the lemon grass in a cup filled with water. Set it in a warm, sunny place. Roots will begin to emerge within 10 days. Fill a potting container with rich planting soil. Plant the lemon grass in the center of the pot with the white rhizome and roots completely covered. Keep soil moist but not soaking wet. Lemon grass can be moved outside in warm weath
