As with any major project as installing a bathtub, the first thing to keep in mind is the building codes. These dictate what is acceptable and what is not. With that in mind, installing a bathtub can be a challenge. Some knowledge of plumbing is required as well as wall and floor construction. The next item to make note of is the type of bathtub being installed. If simply replacing the bathtub with a new one of the same make and model, there is less work involved. However, if a style and size change is desired, then remodeling the bathtub area is required. This includes plumbing, wall and floor reconstruction. Turn off the main water supply to the house. Remove water pressure from the lines by opening the valves. Remove the basket drain with the basket removal wrench.
