How Do You Install A Bathtub Diverter Valve?
The diverter redirects the flow of water from the bathtub spout to the shower head. A faulty diverter valve causes the diverter handle not to turn or results in a grinding noise when it turns. After turning the handle to engage the faulty diverter, water spits out of the tub spout, there is no hot water, or no water comes through through the shower head. Replacing the diverter valve assembly and cartridge is a matter of disassembling the faucet. Perform this easy do-it-yourself repair with a screwdriver and a wrench. Shut off the main water supply to the house and open the faucet to allow water to drain from the lines and to relieve line pressure. Plug up the drain with a cloth or towel to keep parts from being lost in the drain. Remove the bathtub diverter handle.
