A DE pool filter is the most efficient pool filtration system made. One pass of water through the DE filter is equal to 10 passes through a sand filter or 3 passes through a cartridge filter. Putting in a DE filter will not only improve your water clarity but it will save you a ton of money. Cut out the old filter and leave as much pipe as possible. Remove the old filter. Screw in 3 male pipe adapters in the three bottom female ports into the new filter. The ports should be marked “in or to pump”…then “backwash or waste” and ” to pool or outlet”. Set the new filter in place and line up the ports in the best direction in order to make new connections. The pipe from the pump should go into the filter input pipe. The outlet pipe should connect to the return line. The backwash waste line goes to the waste pipe. Clean the connections well before gluing. Once you got the new filter connected turn on the pump and see if everything is Ok. The pressure on the filter gauge should read around 1
