How Do You Install A Kitchen Faucet?
• Turn off the hot and cold water lines. • The cutoff valves should be located beneath the sink or in the basement. • If you cannot locate the cutoff valves, turn off the main water line to the house. This is usually located outside of the house, near the street, in an underground access hatch. • Turn on the existing faucet. • This will relieve pressure in the water lines. • If the faucet has 2 controls, make sure they are both empty before continuing. • Detach the existing faucet from the sink. • Unscrew the nuts that hold the faucet to the sink. These are typically located underneath the sink. • If the nuts are on top of the sink, remove the handles and deck plates. This will allow you to access the nuts. • Clean the area that you just detached the faucet from. • Remove any grime and putty, as necessary. • Place the new putty plate onto the new deck plate. • Add a bead of plumber’s putty into the groove of the deck plate. • If your faucet came with a rubber or plastic gasket instead
