Check the molding for level by placing a 4-foot level across its length if it is set to run between the upper and lower cabinets. If it is not level, consider removing it and replacing it after the upper cabinets are in place. If it is a chair rail, or the molding hits the middle of the lower or upper cabinets, the molding must come off so you can install the cabinets properly. Fasten a temporary ledger board for the upper cabinet installation. This enables you to rest the cabinets on something while you fasten it with screws through the lip. Make sure the ledger board is straight and level. Get a friend to help you lift the upper cabinet or cabinets into place and set it on the ledger board. With a va
