How Do You Install A Modem In A Dell Computer?
Depending on the specific options you chose when you originally bought your Dell desktop computer system you may not have an internal Ethernet card to use as a modem. If you want to connect to an Internet source or plug into a home network you can manually install a modem. While there are minor differences in how you open up the case of different Dell computer models, the PCI card slots are all located in the same position. Power down the Dell computer and unplug its power cable from the electrical outlet. Disconnect the mouse and keyboard cables and set the computer case down on its side on a stable work surface. Optionally, you can place a towel down to prevent scratches to the case as well as the work surface. Check the back end of the access panel to see what locking mechanism your Dell model uses.
