When it is time to upgrade the look of the exterior of your home, a new exterior door is a good place to start. A project of this size will take a little research if you have never attempted it before, but the avid do-it-yourself homeowner will love the challenge. The first and foremost part of this project would be finding a suitable door to replace the one you have without major reconstruction of the entryway. Remove the hinge pins from the new door with a hammer and the Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the bottom hinge pin first to avoid undue stress on the hinges. Set the door aside for now. Set the doorjamb frame in the entryway hole. Be certain that the latch side of the frame is adjacent to the stud in the wall. You may want to tack this in place with the 8d finish nails. Do not drive the nail all the way down. Place the carpenter’s level on a vertical part of the doorjamb to be certain it is plumb. Secure it so it will not move while you level the top. Place the carpenter’s le
