How Do You Install A Telephone Line-Sharing Device?
A line-sharing device is designed to allow devices like a fax machine or a TTY to share the same line as your telephone. If you have DSL on your computer you’re already sharing your telephone line, but the information is being transmitted concurrently using different parts of the fiber optics. Fax machines and TTYs use the same frequency as your telephone, which is why you need to install a line-sharing device to detect and route the calls. Use one end of the telephone cord from the line-sharing device and plug it into the “Line In” port on the back of the line-sharing hub. Attach the other end to the wall jack. Decide whether you need to attach a Caller ID device. If so, plug the telephone cord from the wall jack into Caller ID device’s line. One end of a separate telephone cord should be attached to the “Line In” port on the line-sharing devices, while the other end needs to be plugged into the phone jack. Check to see whether the line-sharing device is factory set to Caller ID “on”
