How Do You Install A Whirlpool Tub?
The idea of soaking the day’s cares away in a whirlpool tub is very tempting. Installing a whirlpool tub takes about a weekend for do-it-yourselfers. Allow another weekend to put in tile and do other finishing work around the tub. Move the tub into place for a test fitting against the walls. Follow manufacturer’s directions for setting and leveling the tub. Mark the spots for the water and drain holes and remove the whirlpool tub. Cut the sub floor for the drainpipe, using a reciprocating saw, then cut the holes in the wall for the water pipes. Install a whirlpool overflow tube, which is longer than a regular overflow tube. Install the trip waste and overflow assembly onto your whirlpool. Align the shoe with the drain. Screw the chrome ring on but don’t fully tighten. Put the overflow “T” on the shoe; the side that is threaded inside should face down. Match the overflow pipe to the overflow hole on the tub and the “T.” Cut the overflow pipe to length.
