Adding crown molding to the tops of your kitchen cabinets is an inexpensive way to achieve a custom look in your kitchen. Follow these steps to install crown molding on your kitchen cabinets. Cut 1- to 1 ½-inch strips of wood or particleboard to fit on the top edge of your kitchen cabinets. Nail the strips to the top edge of your kitchen cabinets. This will serve as a nailing strip for your crown molding so you do not have to nail into the finished surface of your cabinets. If you have access to an air finish nailer, it will make the job quick and easy. If not, use a hammer and finishing nails. Cut the crown molding to fit. Kitchen cabinets are typically carefully installed to be square, so you should be able to cut perfect 45-degree angles at corners.
