Ahhh! The good old drum brakes! After taking the wheel off obviously you see the cover. Step 1. Make sure the parking brake is not engaged! Very important. Now this part will just take raw muscle. Get a decent size hammer and knock the cover off. Be carefull not to whack the wheel studs, as you could break them. The best way I’ve found to do this is give a couple good taps in the front and then a couple from the rear. It will be on very tight so don’t be afraid. Once you get it off, the real fun begins. I would recommend taking both off at the same time. So jack up the entire rear end of your car. **DO NOT TAKE BOTH SIDES APART, BUT TAKE BOTH COVERS OFF, so you can see the brake pads and other parts. Now you’ll notice that there are a few srpings holding the pads in place. You need to remove these springs (this can be tricky) and then the whole assembly will basically come apart easily for you.
