How Do You Install Replacement Shower Faucets?
If your faucet is leaking, a replacement should fix the problem. Installing a new faucet also improves the look of the shower and reduces the chance that staining and rot occur in the walls behind the shower. That leads to even bigger and more expensive repairs. Shut your home’s main water valves or turn off the valves behind your shower wall. They are accessed by a panel cut into the wall. Unscrew the faucet’s set screw with an Allen wrench. This screw is located near the edge of the spout next to the shower wall underneath the spout. Or, if the spout is a screw-on spout, just turn it to the left to remove it. Use a pair of large pliers to loosen the spout at first if you need to. Measure the pipe with a tape measure. Purchase a replacement faucet spout that matches this measurement.
