An added shower can provide ease and convenience to many homeowners. Installing a tile shower surround is a great way to prepare your tub for a shower. Placing the first tile on the wall is often the first step to getting a great-looking tile shower. Learning how to place the first tub tile will help you get started. Measure the walls that directly surround the tub with a measuring tape. Mark the center point on each wall with a pencil. Once you have marked the center point of each wall, you can recruit a friend to help you hold up tiles on the right side of the line. Be sure to place tile spacers between the tiles. If it looks like you will have small slivers of tile on the end, adjust the line. You do not want to be left with a small sliver of tile on the end of the shower surround.
