The actual potentiometer used only requires a few simple connections provided the rest of the guitar has been wired properly, and properly grounding the signal is of the utmost importance to avoid unwanted noise. Remove the pickguard from the guitar by loosening all screws around its perimeter. Lift the pickguard away from the guitar. All of the electronics will remain attached.
