How Do You Join The Merchants Guild In Divine Divinity?
There are two ways to join the Merchants’ Guild in “Divine Divinity:” an honest way and a dishonest way. If you opt for the dishonest way, you’ll lose some reputation points. If you take the honest route, you’ll earn 30,000 experience points and the opportunity to gain more by buying or renting a house in Verdistis. Once you’ve joined the Merchants’ Guild, you can access the Guild’s Archives, allowing you to complete the quest to find Cosmo the cat and gain a point in Trader’s Tongue. Talk to Malcolm in the Merchants’ Guild (located north of the teleporter in Verdistis). He’ll tell you about a woman, Maria, who has been making trouble for him, and offer you free membership in the Merchants’ Guild if you kill her. Find Maria in the Poor Quarter of Rivertown. She’ll tell you that Malcolm has slandered her family, forcing them to move to the Poor Quarter. She’ll tell you how to expose him. If you kill her anyway, you’ll lose a few reputation points.
